Tasting Note

92+   2009  Dehlinger  Goldridge Syrah (Russian River Valley)   1/21/16  ($40)

   14.9% alc
Color: Deep purple-ruby garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Black raspberry and bitter cherry combine with subtle incense, lavender and black pepper. A little restrained. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight to light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. Silky/tangy mouthfeel that coats. (3.0) Flavor: More expressive than bouquet with acidity propelling the fruit and secondary nuances. (3.5) Finish: Long and tasty, yet very classy for CA Syrah. (3.5)
Overall: A classy RRV Syrah with excellent acidity-driven structure. Outstanding nuances of incense and black pepper combine with pure black raspberry and bitter cherry fruit. Better on day 2. Drink now with a long decant or age another 2-5 years. (16)
