Tasting Note

92   2008  Dehlinger  Cabernet Sauvignon (Russian River Valley)   12/16/16  ($50)

   14.9% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Sweet, dusty black cassis, menthol and cedar with a slight vegetable component. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and substantial, smooth tannins. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but somewhat closed with smooth tannins to the fore. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, tannins add bitterness here. (3.0)
Overall: A bigger, more tannin-driven version of its lighter sibling, the '08 Claret. Dusty tannins and smooth cedar are prevalent, but the fruit will emerge with time. Depsite all this, it does show Russian River elegance. If drinking now, decant for a few hours and serve with blood red meat or let age for another 3-5 years.
