93+   2007  Dehlinger  Goldridge Syrah (Russian River Valley)   6/5/15  ($40)

  14.9% alc
Color: Deep ruby. Pretty and still looks a little young. (3.5) Bouquet: Stewed blackberries and black cherries. Subtle leather and black pepper crusted game. Slightly restrained. (3.0) Body: Rich, silky mouthfeel that coats beautifully. Light heavyweight with outstanding fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. (3.5) Flavor: Delicious, sweet black licorice combines with the flavors in the bouquet. (3.5) Finish: Outstanding with tangy licorice, blackberries and black cherries lasting a long time. (3.5)
Overall: What a rich, elegant and delicious Syrah. The stewed blackberry and black cherry fruit infused with sweet black licorice is concentrated and pure. This light heavyweight has a beautiful, silky mouthfeel. All of this is complemented by nuances of black pepper, game and leather. Starting to peak, but could improve in the next 2-5 years. (17)
