Tasting Note

92   2008  Dashe  Todd Brothers Ranch Zinfandel (Alexander Valley)   4/23/16  ($30)

   14.8% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Dusty cherry and sweet/tart black plum fruit with interesting iron mineral and spice nuances. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with a silky mouthfeel. Excellent fruit and acidity with smooth tannins underneath. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Best part, with the fruit and richness to the fore. Iron, black pepper and mouth-puckering structure linger very nicely. (3.5)
Overall: An interesting Alexander Valley Zin with iron minerality and subtle spice complementing dusty sweet/tart black cherry and plum. An elegant light heavyweight with a silky mouthfeel. Similar to a Ridge Zin, but not quite as structured with a slight powdered sugar component to the fruit. At its best now and in the next couple of years. (16.0)
