Tasting Note

96   2007  Dashe  Late Harvest Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)   9/4/15  ($30)

40 Brix at Harvest, 9% Residual Sugar   14.1% alc
Color: Black garnet. Very slight browning at rim, but no clearing. (3.5) Bouquet: Ripe black figs, black plums and sweet prunes. Very concentrated with lively acidity propelling the fruit. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with outstanding fruit and acidity. Rich mouthfeel that coats. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with very ripe fresh figs to the fore. Has a spicy element underneath that makes it wonderful along with its lively acidity. (3.5) Finish: Possibly the brightest and most elegant part. (3.5)
Overall: Was outstanding right from release, but has become even more beautiful with age. One of the best late harvest Zins I've tasted. Similar to Ridge's Essence. Paul Draper taught Dashe well! At its best now and in the next 5 years. (17.5)
