Tasting Notes

90+   2006  Darioush  Duel  Napa Valley  7/11/10 ($45)

  60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Shiraz   14.8% alc
Color: Black garnet. Can't see through. (3.5) Bouquet: Coffee bean and milk chocolate with ripe, but elegant blackberry jam and some tart cassis. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit and very good acidity coat the mouth big time. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Again, parallels bouquet with subtle blueberry in the mix. Also very good, smooth tannins here. (3.0)
Overall: A rich, ripe Cabernet/Syrah blend that is delicious with blackberry jam and cassis fruit and smooth tannins. Could be more distinctive, structured and complex, but balanced and consistent from start to finish in an excellent, ripe style. Drink now and in the next few years. (15.5)
