Tasting Notes

88   2009  Cune  Monopole  Rioja (white)   12/3/10 ($12)

     13% alc      mostly Viura
Color: Light yellow. (2.5) Bouquet: Stones and minerals with dry, tart apple and lime. Forward and aromatic. (3.0) Body: Lively in the mouth with some richness that coats. Well balanced with excellent fruit. Middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but slightly restrained. (2.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet with persistent fruit and stones. (3.0)
Overall: Surprising richness and stony minerality for its weight. This is fresh, tart, dry and very tasty. Shows a lot of character for the price. Great with seafood or just for sipping. Has a slightly austere intensity to it. Excellent value. (14.0)
