Color: Medium black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Funky earth and minerality complement ripe black raspberry and black cherry fruit with elegant cooking herbs. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and acidity. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but could use more fruit concentration to meet the funk and mineral. (2.5) Finish: Long mineral finish and fruit is better defined here. (3.0)
Overall: Enjoyable and food friendly, but not as concentrated or balanced as the excellent 2013. Still shows distinctive minerality and funky earth, but could use more fruit to meet. When first opened, it also had a sulfur-like, swampy smell that blew off after decanting a couple of hours. (14)
