Tasting Note

90   2014  Coquelet  Chiroubles (Cru Beaujolais)   11/20/15  ($20)

   11% alc
Color: Deep purple raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Game, spiced meat and black truffle nuances complement raspberry fruit. Has some richness to it. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent fruit, acidity/minerality. Tangy in the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a lean, tangy, racy demeanor. Light on its feet with flavor intensity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with minerals lingering. (3.0)
Overall: So easy to drink, a true joy! It also goes very well with food, showing precise fruit, fine minerality and interesting complexity. In a wine world where bigger is better, this is a breath of fresh air. I wish that more Pinot Noir based Red Burgundies had this much character, not to mention the price difference! (17)
