Tasting Note

91    2006 Conundrum (Conundrum Wines)    2/18/08 ($12 - 375mL)

13.5% alc
Color: Medium light gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Melon, litchi nut, pineapple and honey. Has significant sweetness, but acidity to match. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight that has excellent fruit-to-acid balance and coats the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet, but also has a toasted, buttercrunch nuance that is particularly enjoyable. Long and clean. (3.5)
Overall: Excellent. This is not the biggest version of this wine I've had and it does not possess hints of botrytus as it does in some years. But this has focussed fruit that is perfectly balanced by acidity and just the right amount of sweetness to match. In a word, delicious. Also terrific with sweeter-styled Asian foods. (15.5)
