89   2008  Chignard  Fleurie  Les Moriers   6/6/10 ($21)

     12.5% alc
Color: Medium deep raspberry with a hint of purple. (3.0) Bouquet: Pure red plum and tart raspberry. Very lively with excellent acidity and minerality. Also a hint of spicy cinnamon stick. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Well-balanced with a crisp, lively mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a nuance of fresh wintergreen. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but lighter with an elegant gamy nuance lingering. (2.5)
Overall: Elegant, classic Fleurie style with a lot of character. It has excellent acidity/minerality and very good red plum and raspberry fruit, complemented by subtle nuances of game and wintergreen. Could be bigger and richer, but well-balanced and giving. Quite enjoyable now and could improve in the next couple of years. A tart, tasty summer red with class. (14.5)
