Tasting Note

92    2010  Francois Chidaine  Clos Baudoin   Vouvray   6/24/12 ($28)

 100% CheninBlanc      14% alc
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Beeswax and key lime with lively minerals. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Tangy, somewhat viscous mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more expressive. Delicious. (3.5) Finish: Light on its feet with liveliness that really lingers. (3.5)
Overall: This dry to slightly off-dry Chenin Blanc has loads of mineral/acidity propelled energy and beeswax and key lime fruit. Similar to the '09 Argiles in many ways, but distinctive onto itself, which is an important part of what makes Chidaine's wines special, they're all different. Delicious now, but could improve or at least stay this good for several years. (16.0)
