Tasting Note

90+  2015  Francois Chidaine  Les Argiles (Vouvray)   7/9/17  ($30)

100% Chenin Blanc   13% alc
Color: Medium straw to light gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Pear, candle wax and mineral water. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit and acidity. Tangy/buttery mouthfeel that coats. Solid middleweight plus. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more expressive with hints of melon. (3.5) Finish: Less expressive fruit and a touch of bitterness. (3.0)
Overall: Excellent, dry Vouvray, but not as expressive as this wine can be. The fruit and minerality are less pronounced than the '14 for instance. It's still a serious Chenin Blanc with a lot of character. I think this will improve with a few years in bottle. If drinking now, decant for a few hours and don't serve too cold. (15.5)
