Tasting Note

88  2008  Domaine de Chevilly   Quincy (Yves & Antoine Lestourgie)   9/6/10 ($15)

   12.5%alc
Color: Light yellow. (2.5) Bouquet: Spritzy, sweet pear and mineral. Light, but lively. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent mineral and very good fruit and acidity. Rich mouthfeel that coats. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but a little light and short at first. Opens somewhat with air. (2.5)
Overall: Shows classic Loire minerality complementing ripe pear fruit. The fruit strikes me as New World in style at first. But with a couple of hours air, an interesting Chenin Blanc-like complexity (nuances of floor wax) emerges, suggesting this is not all Sauvignon Blanc (?). I’d like to see more acidity and structure, but very enjoyable and a very good value. Don’t serve too cold (55°F). (14.0)
