Tasting Note

91  2011  Chateau d'Epiré  Savennières Cuvée Spéciale   10/25/14 ($24)

  13.5% alc
Color: Bright straw. (3.0) Bouquet: Rich beeswax and elegant green apple fruit. Something appealingly creamy about it. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent balance of fruit to acidity. Coats mouth nicely. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but less expressive. (3.0) Finish: Long and elegant. (3.0)
Overall: Leads with an outstanding bouquet of beeswax and green apple, but needs time for the flavor and finish to meet. Still very enjoyable now. Just note that this is bone dry, so be careful with the food pairings. Oysters on the half shell or shrimp cocktail will work nicely. (15.5)
