Tasting Note

93   2000  Chateau Lynch-Bages (Pauillac)   2/14/16  ($75)

   13% alc
Color: Deep garnet with a little browning at the rim, but no clearing. (3.5) Bouquet: Elegant pen ink, black truffle, white chalk and forestal nuances complement cassis and beef broth. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with a pretty, silky mouthfeel. Excellent fruit and acidity with elegant tannins. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but could have more intensity in the mid-palate. (3.0) Finish: The secondary complexity is charming and the subtle tannins linger. (3.0)
Overall: For a Pauillac, this really shows elegance and subtlety, yet the nuances of Pauillac (pen ink, black truffle and other forestal nuances) come through clearly. The silky mouthfeel is very pretty. Very easy to drink, a joy at present. Has been at its best for several years now. Should probably be drunk before it starts to fade away. (16.5)
