Tasting Note

90+   2010  Chateau Les Arromans Cuveé Prestige (Entre Deux Mers)    3/7/14 ($16)

 90% Merlot  10% Cab Franc  13.5% alc
Color: Deep ruby garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Crushed cassis and blackberries with cedar and subtle terroir complementing. Rich. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins. Silky mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Delicious Merlot fruit with just the right amount of tannins to support. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with excellent length, but not quite as concentrated. (3.0)
Overall: A delicious St. Emilion-like red Bordeaux with crushed cassis and blackberry fruit complemented by cedar and subtle terroir. A modern style with lots of forward, young fruit, but the excellent acidity and smooth tannins support it very well. The fruit concentration and weight are impressive for the price. Could gain more complexity in the next few years, but no need to wait. Outstanding value. (15.5)
