Tasting Note

88  2008  Domaine de la Chanteleuserie   Bourgueil  9/5/10 ($15)

100% Cabernet Franc   12%alc  (Thierry Boucard - winemaker)
Color: Deep purple black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Bacon fat, leather and cooking spices complement lean cassis fruit. Opens with air to let minerality lift up the fruit. (3.0) Body: Lively mineral mouthfeel with excellent acidity, very good fruit and a little tannin. Solid middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit could be more forward or could have more elegance to smooth its rustic edge. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with bacon fat and spice lingering. Also a little cinnamon. (2.5)
Overall: A very good Bourgueil that's a little young and restrained. It does show more and more complexity and minerality with air, which lifts up the lean cassis fruit. (14.0)
