Tasting Note

91   2012  Cavallotto  Pinner  Langhe Bianco  (Castiglione Falletto)  5/2/14 ($25)

 100% Pinot Noir  13% alc    450 cases
Color: Looks metallic, like silver or pewter with a hint of bronze. Different. (3.0) Bouquet: Fresh apple and white grape with subtle spring flowers, uplifted by minerality and subtle toast. Slight grassy nuance. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit, minerals and acidity. Elegant with a silky mouthfeel that coats. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with melon added. Pretty with flowers and fruit being more expressive. (3.5) Finish: Very long and persistent with all flavors echoeing. (3.0)
Overall: A unique wine with minerals and crisp acidity combined with Pinot elegance, supporting fresh apple, white grape and spring flowers. White Pinot Noir is rarely seen outside of Champagne and this is a particularly good example. Excellent value. (15.5)
