Tasting Note

94   2013  Carlisle   The Derivative (Sonoma Valley)   11/18/18  ($28)

55% Semillon (Monte Rosso), 25% Muscatelle (Pagani Ranch, Mancini, Saitone), 10% Palomino (Saitone Ranch), 10% Colombard (Mancini)   14.3% alc, 366 cases
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Beeswax, pear, tart apple and grainy minerality. (3.5) Body: Heavyweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Tangy mouthfeel that coats beautifully. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not quite as expressive. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with great length, extra richness and minerality being prominent. (3.5)
Overall: I love this wine because it is very distinctive, full-bodied and unique. This is the best vintage yet! It has more power and richness than the others, yet remains agile and exciting. Fantastic now with or without food and should remain this good for several more years. (16.5)
