Tasting Note

92   2012  Carlisle  Compagni Portis   (Sonoma County)   1/24/15  ($34)

Field blend of Gewurtztraminer, Trousseau Gris, Riesling and other mixed whites (planted 1954)  13.8 % alc
Color: Light silvery gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Spicy Gewurz is prominent showing quince and Spring flowers with ginger and white pepper. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Silky/tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: More intense than the bouquet with very attractive flower/pollen infused fruit and gingery spice. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with elegance and length. Quince and ginger really linger on the palate. (3.5)
Overall: Has more body and flavor intensity than the 2011, tasting more Gewurz and less Riesling. This makes it more distinctive to my palate. (16.0)
