Tasting Note

91   2011  Carlisle  Steiner Syrah (Sonoma Mtn)   1/17/16  ($33)

273cases   14.1% alc
Color: Deep purple-black garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Coffee beans and subtle cedar complement blackberry fruit. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight to light heavyweight with excellent acidity and very good fruit. Tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Coffee beans and restrained, tangy blackberry with spicy cedar. Fruit is more open here. (3.5) Finish: Cedar more prominent, fruit needs time to open. (3.0)
Overall: A lot of potenial here, but shows more coffee beans and cedar than anything else. The blackberry fruit is sufficient at this point, but needs time to open. In quality and general style, I'd compare it to the '12 K Vintners Motor City Kitty I had recently, but this is less forward in fruit with more elegance. (15.5)
