90+(?)   2011  Carlisle  Compagni Portis (Sonoma Valley)   1/19/14 ($30)

Field blend of Gewurtztraminer, Trousseau Gris, Riesling and other mixed whites (planted 1954)  13.6 % alc
Color: Medium yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Elegant nutmeg spice and flowery Gewurz nuances with Riesling acidity. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity combined with Riesling-like elegance. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with more forward Gewurz spice. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with persistent spice and flowers. (3.0)
Overall: A very elegant white, which is Gewurz driven with its flowery fruit and nutmeg spice. This is combined with Riesling elegance and acidity. Serve at cellar temperature to taste all that's there. The elegance and fruit purity of this wine are impressive. The excellent acidity also gives it energy, but it could have more pop, either in the form of more complexity or more fruit concentration. It may gain some of this with bottle age (2-3 years). (15.0)
