Tasting Note

93+   2010  Carlisle   Bedrock Zinfandel (Sonoma Valley)    8/19/18  ($47)

89% Zinfandel, 11% Mixed Blacks (Alicante Bouschet, Aubun, Grand Noir, Petite Sirah, Peloursin, Trousseau Noir, Syrah, Petit Bouschet, Cinsault)   15.8% alc 225cases
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Concentrated blackberry, boysenberry and black plum fruit complement herbal nuances of eucalyptus, menthol and fresh mint. (3.0) Body: Heavyweight with outstanding fruit concentration and excellent acidity. Big tangy mouthfeel that really coats. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is more expressive. (3.5) Finish: Long and delicious with just a hint of heat. (3.5)
Overall: Big, ripe and delicious, yet no heat to speak of, except for a hint in the finish. Shows very concentrated blackberry, boysenberry and black plum fruit with prominent herbal nuances of eucalyptus, menthol and fresh mint. A full blown Zin that is high in alcohol, but handles it extremely well. May be at its best now, but should certainly hold for another 3-5 years, maybe longer. (16.5)
