89% Zinfandel, 11% Mixed Blacks (Alicante Bouschet, Aubun, Grand Noir, Petite Sirah, Peloursin, Trousseau Noir, Syrah, Petit Bouschet, Cinsault)   15.3% alc 520cases
Color: Very deep garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Boysenberry, blackberry, black raspberry and black cherry are all in the beautifully precise, multilayered fruit complemented by a subtle toasted oak staves and musky old vines complexity. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with outstanding fruit concentration and acidity. Tangy, silky mouthfeel. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is even more pronounced and wonderful. (4.0) Finish: Long and delicious. (3.5)
Overall: Wow, is this an awesome Montafi. Best I've tasted, even better than the great '05 and '08. The old vines Zinberry fruit is super concentrated, yet very precise and elegant. It's perfectly balanced with plenty of acidity to propel the musky old vines complexity and fruit. Also has a sexy, silky mouthfeel. A very great Zin that may be at its best right now. Should stay this good for a few more years. (18)
