96+   2007  Carlisle  Papera Ranch  Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)   2/16/14 ($40)

95% Zinfandel, 5% Mixed Black Varieties (Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah)   15.2% alc     651 cases produced
Color: Very deep garnet. Still shows slight purple. (4.0) Bouquet: Beef broth and lively, concentrated Zinberry with almonds. (3.0) Body: Light heavyweight with outstanding fruit and acidity. Lush, silky mouthfeel. Beautifully balanced. (4.0) Flavor: Precise, old vines fruit explodes in the mouth. Musky cherry and boysenberry. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. Long, elegant and precise. Not quite as intense as flavor. (3.5)
Overall: What an incredible Zinfandel with lush RRV fruit and old vines complexity. It's ripe, yet elegant, structured and perfectly balanced with a wonderfully silky mouthfeel. Zin doesn't get better than this! Probably at its best now and in the next 2-4 years. (18)
