Tasting Note

88  2007  Capezzana  Barco Reale di Carmignano   11/3/12 ($13)

80% Sangiovese, 20% CabernetSauvignon  13.5% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Ground mixed nuts and cedary tannins complement tart black cherry and blackberry fruit. (3.0) Body: Light Heavyweight with very good fruit, acidity and tannins. (3.0) Flavor: Not as distinctive as the bouquet with some bitterness from oak and tannin. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. (2.5)
Overall: A very solid wine for the price with impressive structure and mixed nut complexity complementing tart black cherries(Sangiovese) and blackberries(CS). A bit rustic, but has character with a root beer nuance. Probably goes best with hearty stews and roasted meats. (14.0)
