Tasting Notes

87   2005  Canvas Old Vine Zinfandel  Lodi    4/18/10 ($13)

13.5% alc from Folio Winemaker's Studio-Michael Mondavi - made for Hyatt
Color: Deep garnet with no purple, even a slight clearing. (3.0) Bouquet: Dates, dried figs and black plum. Very ripe, but rich with uplifting acidity. A little over-ripe. (2.5) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and acidity to support. Silky mouthfeel with balance. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more lively and tasty. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. Not as expressive as flavor. (2.5)
Overall: This is a tasty, very ripe (slightly over-ripe), ready-to-go Lodi Zin. Not as food-friendly (less supporting acidity) as the '07 Four Vines Cuvee, but smoother and more enjoyable on its own. (13.5)
