Tasting Note

88+(?)     2000 Chateau Cantemerle      6/1/07 ($25)

13.0% alc
Color: Deep garnet with no clearing. (3.0) Bouquet: Sweet cassis with some ink and mint. Slightly sharp due to acidity and tannin, but the sweet fruit covers it well. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with good fruit and structure. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but dry tannin predominates over fruit here. (2.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but nuances linger. (2.5)
Overall: A very good, very enjoyable Medoc that is on the early side of peakness. This has the structure to improve to say a 90 in the next 2-3 years, but does it have the fruit? (14.0)
