Tasting Note

87   2010  Canet Valette   Une et Mille Nuits  (Saint-Chinian)   10/25/13 ($18)

a blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault   14% alc
Color: Deep black cherry garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart red plum, black raspberry and cherry with some simple earthy nuances. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and acidity. (2.5) Flavor: More tart than bouquet with slight bitterness. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. (2.5)
Overall: Tart red and black fruit flavors of red plum, black raspberry and cherry combine with slightly rustic, gravelly earth nuances in the background. Bouquet is its strongest attribute with the flavor and finish being more restrained. Probably needs a little time (1-3 years) to be at its best, but tasty and food friendly even now. (13.5)
