Tasting Note

92     2002 Brolio Chianti Classico      9/2/07 ($20)

Color: Very deep black garnet. Can’t see through. Looks middle-aged with no signs of maturity. (3.5) Bouquet: Concentrated sweet stewed cherries and cassis with cigarbox and pungent, dusty (yet refined) Tuscan terroir. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight that is complex, refined and balanced. Excellent acidity and concentrated fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more restrained. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. (3.0)
Overall: What a terrific regular C. C. that is better than most Riservas. Possesses prominent cherry/cassis fruit with excellent cigarbox and terroir. A very Bordeaux style. It’s peaking and will probably hold another 2 years at least. Amazing stuff for the price. (16.0)
