Tasting Note

92   2010  Catherine & Pierre Breton  Bourgueil Les Galichets   7/31/15  ($28)

100% Cabernet Franc   12% alc
Color: Deep ruby to black cherry. Still surprisingly young looking for Cab Franc. (3.5) Bouquet: Very expressive red bell pepper and spice nuances complementing concentrated (but not quite sweet) tart black cherry and black raspberry fruit. Could even open more with time. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight to light heavyweight with excellent structure and fruit. The tannins make the fruit less sweet, but still well balanced and ageworthy. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more tart with less complexity showing. (3.0) Finish: Long, showing more character than the flavor, but not as much as bouquet. (3.0)
Overall: The quality and flavor concentration of this wine are impressive, particularly for Cab Franc. Shows nice Loire terroir and interesting bell pepper and root spices. (16)
