Tasting Note

86    2001 Borsao Campo de Borja     8/19/03 ($6)

Color: Dark cherry with a touch of purple. (3.0) Bouquet: Interesting combination of cherry, plum and orange, smells like Sangria (3.0) Body: Very good fruit lifted by acidity, maybe a bit too much, little tannin or ageworthy structure. (2.5) Flavor: In your face plum and tart cherry, acidity makes it tasty and rich, but surprisingly light and nimble. (3.0) Finish: Citrusy, almost like a Sauv.Blanc with a touch of bitterness, least impressive part of the wine, but still quite decent. (2.0).
Overall: A very tasty fruit-driven, acidity propelled Spanish-style Grenache(Garnacha). Wonderful summer red. Great value.(13.5)
