Tasting Note

88    2002 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet     12/8/06 ($20)
14.1% alc

Color: Medium garnet (3.0) Bouquet: Black pepper, cassis and high acidity with smooth, cedary oak in the background. (2.5) Body: Middleweight with excellent acidity propelling cassis, which could be more concentrated. (2.5) Flavor: Not big, but tasty and well-proportioned, giving just enough fruit, tannin and oak to complement good acidity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with cassis and cedar lingering. Long, but subtle, almost delicate. (3.0)
Overall: Very tasty and enjoyable. Not particularly big, concentrated or ageworthy, but a well-proportioned, forward, drink-me-now Cabernet with some structure. It could be aged for 2-3 years, but I would suggest drinking it now and in the next year to enjoy its vibrance. Also, a more than healthy dose of acidity warrants caution. (14.0)
