Tasting Note

92   2010  Baumard  Clos du Papillon Savennières   4/3/16  ($32)

100% CheninBlanc   14.5% alc
Color: Silver yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Intense musk and minerals with elegant, fresh pear fruit. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with intense acidity and excellent fruit. Coats mouth beautifully. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but young with bitter austerity. The pear fruit is pungent and waxy. (3.0) Finish: Long, but shows even more bitterness than flavor. (3.0)
Overall: A very intense, young and austere Savennieres. Shows lots of musk and minerals complementing waxy pear fruit that is flowery, bitter and somewhat pungent. Bone dry and well balanced, this should improve significantly with 5-10 years bottle age. (16.0)
