Tasting Note

86   2003 Chateau Cote de Baleau – St. Emilion   4/23/07 ($20)

13% alc
Color: Medium deep garnet. A little light for its age, but this is an early drinker. (2.5) Bouquet: Bright, fresh mint, spicy earth and light cherry/cassis fruit with good acidity. (3.0) Body: Smooth mouthfeel with pretty good structure (acidity/tannin). The fruit is decent after much air, but a little lacking. Light middleweight. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more muted. (2.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet, but lacks length. May emerge with more time. (2.5)
Overall: Decent for the price. Note this sat in the frig for 2 days after a glass was removed. When first opened it was closed and scored around 84. So, it needs 2-3 years to be at its best. (13.0)
