88 2001 Grand Archer Arrowood Cabernet – Sonoma 7/1/05 ($14)
A very solid Cabernet with cassis fruit and northern Napa-style earthy complexity. This one’s actually from northern Sonoma. Has excellent acidity and sufficient tannin to improve in the next year or so, but very tasty right now. Has a little bitterness in the finish, but still goes great with a steak and is an excellent value. Like a blast from the past, this California Cabernet delivers at a price that brings you back 10 or 15 years.
