Tasting Note

92           2001 Archery Summit P.N. – premier cuvee 11/20/04 ($35)

Color: Dark black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Mineral, acidity propelled cherry and a dense gaminess that’s very interesting and enjoyable to sniff. Smells like a Cote de Nuits. (4.0) Body: Solid middleweight with good concentration of flavors. Has more acidity than tannin and is probably at its best now and in the next year or two. (3.0) Flavor: Restrained black cherry fruit with salty, mineral component. It is dryer than a California P.N., but not exactly a Burgundy either. It has its own interesting personality. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with gamy nuances lingering. (3.0)
Overall: Burgundy, watch out! This is a serious, Burgundy-style P.N. that drinks as good as many a premier cru Cote de Nuits costing twice the price. (16.0)
