Tasting Note

92+   2013  Anthill Farms  Peter's Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   10/25/15  ($46)

13.4 % alc
Color: Medium deep raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Camphor and tart black raspberry/blueberry fruit. Bright and pretty. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and acidity. Tangy mouthfeel. Light on its feet. (3.0) Flavor: More open, elegant and tasty than the bouquet. Reminds me of a top notch Morgon. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor step-for-step. Impressive energy and length for its weight. (3.5)
Overall: A bit reduced at first, but improved significantly with extended air and was even better the next day. This drinks a lot like a top notch Morgon from Foillard or Lapierre. Surprising coming from CA, but this is the Western Sonoma Coast, a different beast entirely than any other CA Pinots. Bright, pretty black raspberry and blueberry fruit combine with interesting spice (camphor and subtle herbs). Give it a few years (3-5 years). If drinking now give it a long decanting. (16.0)
