Tasting Note

89+   2006 Afton Mountain Vineyards  Vin de Glacées    11/16/08 ($20)375 mL

50% Gewurz, 50% Muscat   29° Brix, 4.8% Residual Sugar,   14% alc
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Very Gewurz with ginger, cane sugar and flowers. The muscat smooths it out and makes the aromatics softer and more attractive. Some bitterness. (3.0) Body: Coats the mouth with an elegant liqueur. Solid middleweight plus with excellent balance and nice concentration.(3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Not quite as concentrated, but subtle and interesting. (3.0) Finish: Has length, but more bitterness creeps in. Gewurz becomes more prominent here. May need time for the different flavors to integrate.(2.5)
Overall: A very interesting ice wine. Doesn't quite taste like anything else and makes a statement for VA wine. I like it a lot. (14.5)
